Dear
Richard;
I was visiting the Gulf Coast Writers Association's website and
saw that you are the current president. I've had it in my mind for some time now
to contact you to ask if your organization might want to team up and create some
programs together that might be mutually beneficial.
The Laboratory
Theater of Florida is the resident theater company of the Sidney & Berne
Davis Art Center in the downtown river district of Ft Myers. Our director,
Annette Trossbach, was trained at one of the finest theater schools in London,
and was recently awarded Gulfshore Business Magazine's '40 Under 40'Award as one
of the young adult leaders of Southwest Florida. She started a few seasons ago
with Macbeth, followed by Anthony Burgess' 'A Clockwork Orange', 'House of
Bernarda Alba', 'Talk Radio', Zoo Story and several other plays, all of cultural
and intellectual importance. You might have heard of the November Gulf Coast
Shakespeare Festival as well. We feel there are enough musicals in the area
already!
On January 26th, Tracy Letts' black comedy, 'True West' opens
at the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center. Perhaps you and some members of GCWA
can come and see some of our work and investigate the possibility of doing
something in partnership.
I love to create new communications with other
organizations; I believe there's always potential for a greater strength in
numbers. Hope to hear from, or meet you all soon!
