Ocean Publishing Newsletter

June 2010

Dear Friends,

Did you miss us in May? We were so busy with major projects that we didn't have time to produce Making Waves. Beside several important book projects, I was Master of Ceremonies for the Environmental Education Fair presented May 1st by Friends of Scenic A1A. Check out videos on YouTube of cool interviews I did of the keynote speaker Michael Klubock and other presenters. Just enter my name in the search engine.

I'm happy to say that we now are back on course, so we'll see you each month from now on.

Bill Stewart's Climate of Uncertainty was displayed at BookExpo America in May and also will be right up front in the IBPA Display at the American Library Association Conference in Washington, DC on June 24-29.

We have some exciting promotions planned for the release of Explore the Southeast National Marine Sanctuaries with Jean-Michel Cousteau. We are thrilled with the plans for its national roll-out!!!

That's it from my desk. Call or email me anytime to say hi.

Best of everything to you,

Gulf Oil Spill

Just the Facts

What can be said about the catastrophe in the Gulf that hasn't been said already? Everywhere you look--newspapers, magazines, TV, radio--this is the top story, and justly. But as not just an ocean/nature-oriented business, but as residents of a coastal community, this disaster hits especially close to home.

Rather than pointing fingers or citing a plethora of facts and projections, we've decided instead to offer a couple of informative links as to the timeline and intensity of these events, and to keep our fingers crossed that this is a problem that finds its resolution sooner rather than later.

Tracks in the Sand: A Signing

@ the First Street Gallery, 6/18/2010, 7-9pm

With turtle nesting season now in full swing here in sunny (and humid!) northeast Florida, it seems everyone is asking the same question: "Who are those people riding up and down the beach on ATVs every morning at dawn?"

Those people are the Turtle Patrol, and they monitor the coast in search for turtle nests that need protecting. They're also the subject of Ocean's latest title, Tracks in the Sand: Sea Turtles and Their Protectors.

In celebration of Tracks' release and the start of another "turtle season," Ocean will hold a signing at the First Street Art Gallery in Neptune Beach on June 18th, from 7:00-9:00pm. The signing will be part of a 6-week art exhibit, and 10% of all art & book sales during the show will be contributed to the Beaches Sea Turtle Patrol.

Come out, enjoy the show, and we look forward to seeing you there!

Can't wait for the exhibit to get your hands on a copy of Tracks? Order online now with Free Shipping!
